Court Reporting Associations — National and State

National Court Reporters Association The largest stenography association in the world. It administers national certification tests, but it is not a governmental organization, nor does it have any governing power except for those who voluntarily join their organization. Many states, but certainly not all of them, accept the NCRA certification tests in lieu of their own state tests.
National Verbatim Reporters Association The NVRA was created to support voice writers, but members are not exclusively voice writers. The V in NVRA stands for “Verbatim,” not “Voice.” It’s a comparatively small organization, but an active one.
United States Court Reporters Association Federal reporters have the USCRA as their main organization. Because their scope is limited to Federal reporters, their association is limited to issues that affect their members. Great place for those who are looking for this type of job.
